Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about trading CS2 skins — knives, gloves, rifles, and more — on Hostadz.com.
Getting Started
Trading CS2 skins on Hostad takes less than a minute:
- Sign in with Steam — click "Sign in through Steam" on the homepage.
- Set your Trade URL — go to your Steam privacy settings and paste your Trade URL into the prompt.
- Browse the bot's inventory — find the CS2 skins you want on the right panel.
- Select your items — pick skins from your inventory to offer in exchange, use your balance, or a combination of both.
- Click "Send Trade Offer" — accept the offer in your Steam app or browser and the swap is done.
Make sure Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator is active on your account — Steam requires it for all trade offers.
Your Trade URL is a unique link that lets the Hostad bot send you trade offers without needing to be friends on Steam.
To find it:
- Open steamcommunity.com/my/tradeoffers/privacy.
- Log into your Steam account if prompted.
- Copy the URL under "Third-Party Trade Offers".
- Paste it into the "Trade URL" field on Hostad and save.
Your Trade URL does not expire unless you click "Generate new URL". If you ever suspect it has been compromised, generate a new one — this invalidates the old link immediately.
No. You can browse the bot's full CS2 skin inventory — including knives, gloves, and rifles — without signing in. You only need to sign in with Steam when you're ready to place a trade.
Sign-in uses Steam's official OpenID system, so we never see your Steam password or have access to your account beyond what's needed to process trades.
Steam Guard & Authentication
Yes. Steam requires an active Mobile Authenticator on your account to send and receive trade offers. Without it, Steam will either block the trade entirely or apply a 15-day escrow hold — meaning neither party receives their items for 15 days.
To enable it:
- Open the Steam Mobile app on your phone.
- Go to Steam Guard → Add Authenticator and follow the steps.
- Wait at least 7 days after enabling before trading, so new item holds are reduced to the standard 7-day period rather than the 15-day escrow.
If you already have Mobile Authenticator active and have had it for more than 7 days, you're good to go.
Steam applies a 7-day trade hold to every item received via trade offer. This is a security measure enforced by Valve at the API level — it applies on all CS2 trading platforms, not just Hostad. There is no way to bypass it.
The hold is tied to the item, not your account. Once the 7 days are up, the item becomes tradable and you can offer it in a new trade immediately.
To minimise disruption, trade skins you plan to hold for at least a week, and keep Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator active so the hold stays at 7 days rather than escalating to the 15-day escrow.
Trading & Pricing
Hostad supports a wide range of CS2 skins and items, including:
- Knives — Karambit, Butterfly, M9 Bayonet, Falchion, and more
- Gloves — Sport Gloves, Specialist Gloves, Moto Gloves, and others
- Rifles — AK-47, M4A4, M4A1-S, AWP, SG 553, and others
- Pistols — Desert Eagle, USP-S, Glock-18, Five-SeveN
- SMGs, shotguns, and heavy weapons
- Cases, stickers, and agents
Both StatTrak™ and non-StatTrak variants are supported. Items must be tradable — trade-locked skins show a countdown but cannot be selected until the hold expires.
Once you click "Send Trade Offer," the Hostad bot sends a Steam trade offer within seconds. The full trade completes as soon as you accept it in the Steam app or browser — typically under 60 seconds end to end.
After acceptance, items appear in your inventory within about 30 seconds (subject to Steam API sync). If you don't receive the offer within 2 minutes, check your Steam trade offer page directly. If it's still missing, reach out on Discord.
A CS2 trading bot is a Steam account operated by automated software. When you initiate a trade on Hostad, the bot:
- Verifies the items on both sides match the agreed values.
- Sends you a trade offer on Steam instantly.
- Confirms its side automatically once you accept.
Everything is automated — there's no human manually processing each trade. This keeps the platform fast, reliable, and available 24/7.
Hostad prices every CS2 skin by averaging two independent market sources — CSFloat and BUFF163 — to produce a fair, market-reflective value.
For special items like Doppler phases (Sapphire, Ruby, Black Pearl) and Case Hardened Blue Gems, prices are fetched for that specific paint index rather than the generic skin name. A Sapphire Karambit is priced as a Sapphire, not a standard Doppler.
You can cross-check any price on CSFloat or BUFF163 at any time. A small service fee shown before you confirm covers platform costs.
Hostad charges a 4–7% service fee on items taken from the bot's inventory — shown in the trade summary before you confirm. Standard items carry a 7% fee; high-demand items (marked with the flame badge) carry a lower 4% fee. The fee covers server costs, pricing API access, and ongoing development.
There are no hidden fees. The fee is built into the displayed price so what you see is what you pay. Prices shown for your own skins are always unmodified market values.
Balance & Credits
When the total value of skins you offer the bot exceeds the value of what you take, the difference is credited to your Hostad balance. You can then spend that balance as partial or full payment in future trades — reducing or eliminating the need to offer skins of your own.
For example: if the bot's skin is worth $50 and your offered skins total $35, you can apply $15 from your balance to cover the difference.
Your balance is displayed in the trade summary panel and updates in real time after each completed trade.
No. Hostad is a skin-to-skin trading platform, not a cash-out or money-exchange service. Your balance is site credit that can only be applied toward CS2 skin trades on Hostad.
This is a deliberate design choice that keeps the platform within Steam's Terms of Service and outside money-services regulation — ensuring long-term stability and legality for all users.
Trade Locks & Restrictions
Steam applies a 7-day trade hold to items recently received via trade offer. During this period the skin is in your inventory but cannot be traded yet.
Hostad detects these holds and displays the item with a lock overlay and a live countdown so you know exactly when it becomes available. Locked items cannot be selected — clicking one will show the time remaining.
The hold lifts automatically when the countdown reaches zero. Refresh your inventory after it expires to trade the item.
Hostad can only show a trade-lock countdown if Steam includes the unlock date in your inventory data. Steam provides this via the owner_descriptions field, which is present when the item is under a temporary hold.
If an item has tradable: false with no unlock date, Hostad treats it as permanently non-tradable (e.g. gifted items, items inside a Storage Unit) and hides it entirely. If you believe the item should show a countdown but doesn't, Steam may not have added the hold information to your public inventory yet — try refreshing after a few minutes.
Security & Avoiding Scams
Yes. Hostad is a legitimate CS2 skin trading platform that uses Steam's official trade offer system. All trades are automated skin-for-skin exchanges facilitated by our bots. We do not buy or sell skins for real money and we have no gambling features.
You can verify the legitimacy of any interaction with Hostad by:
- Confirming the URL in your browser is exactly hostadz.com — no extra characters, hyphens, or alternate spellings.
- Checking that trade offers come from the official Hostad bot Steam account.
- Reviewing community feedback on our Discord server.
CS2 skin trading scams are common. The most important rules:
- Check the URL every time. Scammers create near-identical phishing sites with slightly different domains (e.g. hostad-xyz.com, h0stad.xyz). Always verify you're on hostadz.com before signing in.
- Never trade on Steam chat. We will never ask you to send items to a "verification bot" or "admin account" via Steam chat. Any message claiming to be Hostad support on Steam is a scam.
- Review every trade offer before accepting. Check that the items match what you agreed to. Scammers sometimes cancel and resend with different items at the last second.
- Protect your Steam API key. If you've entered your API key on an unknown site, revoke it immediately at steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey. A compromised API key lets attackers intercept and cancel legitimate trade offers.
If you suspect you're being scammed, do not accept any offers and contact us on Discord immediately.
Yes — peer-to-peer CS2 skin trading is legal as long as it complies with Steam's Terms of Service and applicable local laws. Hostad facilitates direct skin-for-skin trades using Steam's official trade offer system, which is fully supported by Valve.
We do not operate a gambling or real-money cash-out service. All trades are skin-to-skin exchanges with transparent, market-sourced pricing and a visible service fee.
We store only what is needed to operate the service:
- Your Steam ID (public identifier issued by Steam)
- Your Trade URL (so the bot can send you offers)
- Your balance (site credit from completed trades)
- A record of your trade history on this platform
We do not store passwords (Steam handles authentication via OpenID), payment information, or any personal data beyond the above. You can browse the bot's inventory as a guest without any account.
Yes. Your Trade URL only allows others to send you trade offers — you still have to accept every offer manually in your Steam app or browser. Nobody can take items from your inventory without your explicit approval.
Never accept trade offers from accounts you don't recognise. Always verify the items in an offer before accepting, and confirm it comes from the official Hostad bot. If you ever want to invalidate your current Trade URL, generate a new one from your Steam privacy settings.
Troubleshooting
Hostad fetches your CS2 inventory via Steam's public API. If your inventory is set to private or friends-only, we can't read it.
To make it public:
- Go to Steam → Edit Profile → Privacy Settings.
- Set "Game details" and "Inventory" to Public.
- Save and return to Hostad — click "Retry" to reload your inventory.
Prices are loaded in the background from CSFloat and BUFF163. When you first open the trade page, some items may briefly show $0.00 while the price cache warms up.
The page polls for updated prices every 10 seconds and fills them in as they arrive — you don't need to refresh. If prices are still missing after a minute, the pricing APIs may be temporarily unavailable. Try refreshing the page.
If something goes wrong — trade offer not received, balance deducted but no offer sent, items not transferred — reach out on our Discord server with your Steam ID and trade ID (if you have it).
If a trade offer is declined or cancelled, any balance deducted will be automatically refunded to your account within seconds. If it hasn't been restored after a short wait, contact us on Discord and we'll resolve it manually.
